Tale of Two Strains in Ottawa cannabis stores opened in Ottawa on Monday to a steady buzz but no ’round-the-block lineups. Store owners weren’t sure what to expect from the public, but they hired security guards just in case. The day went off smoothly at Superette, which had only a handful of people in line when it opened. Its customers were calm, polite and respectful, said a staffer.
At Hobo, which also opened on Monday, the crowds were smaller and a little more subdued. Its lines were no longer out the door by sundown, but the inside of the store was packed. The store’s founder, Drummond Munro, said everything ran smoothly. He estimated that between 500 and 800 people came in to buy its products. He also said none of its roughly 75 strains sold out.

Despite the low turnout, it was clear that many of the city’s weed fans were eager to get their hands on some of Canada’s first legal cannabis products. Munro and other store operators have said that they are optimistic for the future of the industry.
One of the biggest retailers in Ontario, Tale of Two Strains, has 152 strains to choose from, 81 types of concentrates, 40 edibles, 29 other cannabinoids and five mushrooms. It offers a full online ordering experience.
The shop also sells p cubensis mushroom items, which are a form of magic mushroom that contains the psychoactive substance psilocybin. They are known to induce psychedelic experiences. The Tale of Two Strains menu includes gummies and chocolate that contain the fungus. The site also sells tinctures and capsules that allow users to microdose mushrooms.
