If you use a password leak checker such as LastPass or Apple’s iPhone, you can check to see if your account has been breached using the free service called Have I Been Pwned. This site uses data from a number of leaked databases to find whether your email address and/or password has been exposed in one or more breaches. Firefox and 1Password both integrate HIBP into their browsers, making it easy for you to monitor your risk.

Regardless of how you monitor your own data, it’s important to take any notifications you receive about breached accounts seriously. Even if the information in the notification doesn’t include your credit card details or other personal information, one breached password can make your other accounts vulnerable to attack, and you should consider changing all your passwords immediately.
There are several other tools that can also help you see if your password has been compromised. For example, Microsoft’s Password Monitor feature in Edge (which works with the password manager you use on your iOS device) can scan for passwords that appear in breaches. Then, it will alert you to the passwords that need to be changed and recommend stronger ones.
reCAPTCHA Enterprise, an advanced security solution for businesses, can also detect if a customer’s username and password has been leaked or breached, helping protect against account takeovers and credential stuffing. This is a more advanced option that requires additional setup and integration, which HiView’s reCAPTCHA experts can assist with.
